Jett has been quite the traveler the last couple of months. He had his first beach trip over Memorial Day weekend (close to Destin, FL) with his Aunt Jordon, Knox, & Mika. He loved sitting on the beach in his bouncer, under an umbrella AND hat of course. His bouncer has been wonderful, probably the best investment thus far. But he’ll be getting a little big for it sooner than later. He has also been to Callaway Gardens, Six Flags, his first of many Brave’s games, Savannah, & St. Simons Island. He actually let us hold him in the pool, while we were in St. Simons, for a few minutes at a time. I’m sure it felt good-it was around 100 degrees there most days.
Jett had his first real smile on May 17th. Austin & I were actually at Matt & Annie’s wedding when it happened. We were sad we missed the very first one, but Momo Kitty Melly was very excited & called us right away! Jetters has been lighting up rooms ever since. I love how his eyes smile so bright. And if you get a really big one out of him then he squeals & scrunches his nose. But no one can get him to smile quite like his Daddy.
Jett has also become quite the drooler lately. I think he is going to be an early teether. His hand-eye coordination has improved a lot-evidenced by his hands always being in his mouth. He’s holding his head up without the bobbling as well. He does not like to lie down unless he’s tired. He almost always wants to be held sitting up. He also likes to push up on his legs. He started doing this really early according to typical development. He likes to sit, stand, sit, stand, sit, stand. He doesn’t like tummy time very much, but we try to do it at least a few minutes a day to increase his muscle strength. We have also discovered a type of birth mark near the nape of his neck that is referred to as a salmon patch. It's a flat pink patch of skin that is harmless and very common in infants. I've read that they usually disappear by the age of two, but in rare cases they stay for a lifetime. But it's covered by his hair, so either way it'll be fine.
Last night, we watched fireworks on the golf cart and he loved them, or at least I think he did. He watched them intently for almost the entire show. There was a lady watching them next to us who had a six-week-old baby, and it was amazing to see how different Jett looked next to her. Her name was Rosalynn; maybe they’ll be in the same class some day.
Jett’s typical sleeping schedule consists of waking up around anywhere from 8:00-10:00. Many days I have to wake him up so that we can go watch Christopher & Austen during the week while his Daddy’s at work. He takes a nap anywhere from 11:00-1:00 (depending on how early he woke up). He usually stays awake for most of the early afternoon, and takes a nap just before dinner. He goes to sleep for the night somewhere around 10:00p.m. He usually doesn’t wake much during the night. If he does, I usually feed him for just a few minutes and he falls right back to sleep. He still sleeps in our room, but I am going to try and transfer him to the crib in his room within the next couple of months. He sleeps so well now that it’s hard to want to do anything different, and Austin and I both enjoy the comfort of knowing Jett is safe & sound.
We are now counting down the days to the Savannah wedding! Poor Jett has been run all over the place helping gather last minute items. Last week he took his first trip to the mall to help his Mommy look for shoes. Luckily, it was around naptime. But we are soooo excited about having our family & friends together in Savannah. It’s going to be a happy time for sure.
