Daffodils

*P.S. I apologize for not being the best blogger! A lot has happened in the last few months. I will add pictures of Jett's 1st birthday by this weekend and try to update everyone on our little man!

Spoons

It seems that the busier life gets, the less I blog about it. This makes me sad, because taking the time to reflect via pictures & words is something that I really enjoy doing at the end of a hectic day. It's not only something to look back on, but also a reminder of the simple things in life that make us truly happy.
In case you're wondering, Jett is still growing. I love, love, love this age. He turned 10 months old two days ago...can you believe it? He'll be a year old soon - wow. I know most moms say "every age is great," & they are right....every age is great. However, this is my favorite so far. I know, I know, shame on me. He is just sooo much fun. Even when he is venturing over towards the dog bowl, & we have to say "Jett, no! No. Jett Janowskiiiii.....NOOOO." Everything he does is just so darn cute. But we do say "no" a lot these days. For instance,  when he is climbing the stairs, eating hair he finds on the ground, playing with cords, playing drums on the trash can, putting his hands in the dog food, reaching for the knives when I'm loading the dishwasher, and so forth. We definitely have to keep an eye on him at all times. He is a fast little crawler. Austin calls him "turbo." He isn't walking yet. Sometimes he will stand without holding on to anything, but he doesn't seem very interested in walking right now.Which is fine with me, I don't see any rush.
Cell phones fascinate him. We don't let him play with them, but sometimes we'll put each other on speaker phone so he can "talk." The other morning my mom called me when we were still in bed,  & I put her on speaker phone. Jett decided to say "hey" & she replied with "'hi," and they went back and forth like that for a good five minutes. He is also learning to feed himself with a spoon. It gets a little messy (as you can see below), but hey, he is learning! We're  still doing signs with him.  We do basic signs such as no, more, cup, eat, all done,  hurt/pain, and milk. He hasn't started doing them by himself yet, but by the way he reacts, he seems to be getting them receptively.

I have also added a couple pictures of Christmas. This was our first Christmas waking up in our own home (last year we spent the night & Matt & Mom's on Christmas Eve). However, we were so busy videoing Jett's first Christmas that we forgot to take pictures! But there are a couple below from our parent's houses. I will try and put up a short clip of the video sooner than later.

We rang in 2010 with a BOOM!!! Or not! We were actually sleeping when 2010 arrived. Are we getting old or what?  This is not only a new year but a new DECADE. Time really does fly doesn't it? I think this is going to be a wonderful decade, I can feel it. But this next year is going to be.... challenging. I have started my second semester of graduate school & Austin continues to work full time at the University. This time next year I will be done (WOOHOOOOO)  with my course work & starting my medical internship as a Speech-Language Pathologist. I cannot wait! Up to this point I have taken many classes surrounding topics of childhood development, language, & articulation, which have been okay but boring to me at times. But now my classes are more focused on the medical side of SLP (dysphagia, cleft palate, neurological disorders, etc), & I absolutely love it. It has definitely confirmed the notion that I want to work in a medical setting & not in a school system. I have four clients this semester starting in February. Two of them have motor speech disorders associated with Cerebral Palsy. I'm really excited about getting those experiences under my belt.

We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! I have more pictures of the past month on another camera (which my mom has) so I will add them soon! But for now, these will have to do.
